Nanni’s versatility is unmatchable, his passion on the keys,
undeniable. From solo gigs, to band leader, to first-call side man,
Nanni has done it all. Mark is equally at home on piano, churnin and
burnin Leslie organ, or any other board including one stylin’
accordion! His jazz sensibility, intense vocals, and improvisational
freedom add a heapin' helping of color and spice to the Los Blancos
stew. The keyboard angle is covered by the inimitable Mark Nanni. His versatility is unmatchable, his passion on the keys, undeniable. From solo gigs, to band leader, to first-call side man, Nanni has done it all. Mark is equally at home on piano, churnin' and burnin' Leslie organ, or any other board, including accordion! His jazz sensibility, intense vocal style, and improvisational freedom add a heapin' helping of color and spice to the Los Blancos stew. Despite a busy performing schedule, Mark Nanni's name rarely appears on the top of a bill, splashed across the headlines or illuminated on a marquee. Whether he's viewed as a sideman supreme, sonic spackle or hired gun, the bottom line remains the same: Nanni is the go-to guy other musicians call when they need a keyboard player. When former Los Blancos guitarist Jose Alvarez was bouncing between Syracuse and the country of Mexico, the band added Nanni to its ranks in 1998. His keyboard handiwork ended up filling Alvarez's eventual void and led to the band evolving a new identity. Nanni goes far beyond the blues, too. The cello-pop band Sinker called Nanni to embellish its latest release, Too Close To Call (High Tension), with both piano and accordion tracks. Nanni's litany of credits also includes work with Mark Doyle, Jacque Tara Washington, the Rigbys, Donna Colton, Kim Lembo, and the John Betsey Quartet. His musical influences and interests mirror the diversity of the people he performs with. In addition to his Los Blancos gigs, Nanni plays in a straight-up jazz band, Intention. Nanni's work showcases the depth of his musical knowledge, breadth of his skills and ability to emote through the keys. |
